Convert a PDF to plain text

Upload a PDF and get the readable text out of it. Use the result as a draft, paste it into another tool, or send it straight to the AI detector.

Up to 20 MB. Same extraction engine as the AI detector. Pro or Max required.

How the conversion works

A text-native PDF already contains characters the reader can select. Those are extracted directly. A scanned PDF is a stack of images, so the file goes through OCR first and the recognised text is what you get back.

Either way the output is plain text. That is deliberate: the point of this page is a string you can paste into a detector, a humanizer or a document of your own, not a pixel-perfect replica of the original layout.

What can go wrong

Heavy tables, multi-column magazines and handwriting all degrade extraction quality. OCR on a poorly photographed page will misread characters. Always skim the result before you treat it as authoritative.

Document upload on IA Checker is available on Pro and Max. Free accounts can still paste text into the AI detector; they cannot run this converter until they upgrade.

Questions

Is the PDF to text converter free?
Document upload runs on Pro and Max plans. You can still paste text into the free AI detector without converting a file.
Does it work on scanned PDFs?
Yes. Image-based and photographed pages go through OCR before the text is returned. Quality depends on the scan.
What is the file size limit?
20 MB per upload.
Is my PDF stored or used for training?
Submitted files are not used to train models. See the privacy page for retention detail.
