Usage question

Why was my own writing flagged as AI?

Verified 2026-08-05

Style-based detectors look for regular cadence, narrow punctuation and formulaic phrasing. Plenty of human writing has those traits: second-language English, technical or legal registers, heavy grammar-tool passes, and samples that are simply too short.

Open the sentence-level view if your tool offers one. See which passages carry the signal. Often it is the polished summary, not the concrete middle. Add specifics only you could know, vary sentence length, and cut stock openers.

A flag is not a verdict that you cheated. It is a statistical lean. Treat it that way when you respond to a teacher or a recruiter.
